yaAB dABa doo
yaAB dABa doo (AB 217) was built in the mid 1970’s by Harry Poole to teach children to sail. It may be sailed with an adult and child (or one or two of each). The gunter rigged boats were built of wood, GRP or composite. Harry Poole built more than 100 ABs which were used around the world (Ayr sailing club in Scotland had a fleet of more than 20 ABs last century which were sailed by adults). Now ABs are only sailed and raced in Poole where there are about 75 of them, some newly built. AB 255 – Tornado – was entered in Falmouth Classics in 1992.
