Lufra
Lufra ‘the fleetest hound in the North’ was built in 1931 by Everson’s at Woodbridge on the River Deben. She’s a 21ft Deben Cherub, No7 of 12. She was due to be cut up after storm damage on the Scilly Isles, where she was subsequently saved for a ‘rainy day’s’ restoration project. Post Covid restoration done, she’s moored on St Mary’s. Designed for the new generation of ‘dirty shirt sailors’ those who could not afford crew but had leisure time and some money. Original cost £125, £135 with an engine! Owned by James Fletcher.
