Drekly

Drekly is a 16ft Cornish randan punt – either an inshore pilot boat or “Tidewaiter punt ” used by Customs and Excise at the turn of the century. She has the characteristic straight run of the gunwale forward with significant tumblehome to allow her to be towed alongside a ship without sheering away or griping. Built of Cornish elm planking and oak ribs she has seen many repairs over years. She was bought from Turks of Chatham who acquired her in the 1980’s at an auction somewhere in Cornwall. She now has a spritsail main option and is owned by Mark Edwards based in Richmond on Thames. She has been to SSS many times before and has even been rowed in the Great Thames River Race by a group of guys from Mousehole.
